Please complete the preparation below before class to ensure you can successfully complete all the steps within the class timeframe. Note: Using Hobbs Double Sided Fusible Batting is essential for achieving the best results. I cannot guarantee you will get the same outcome from other batting. Cut fabric for your blocks: • From plain cream or white fabric cut 2: 12 ½” x 15 ½”
o This is for the top of the blocks to allow your quilting designs to stand out • From all over printed fabric cut 2: 12 ½” x 15 ½” o This is for the back of the blocks, so choose a busy print that isn’t directional • From Hobbs Heirloom Double Sided Fusible Batting cut 2: 12 ½” x 15 ½” (this batting is essential)
Sandwich the three layers together for your blocks as follows: • Lay the backing pieces out onto the ironing surface with the wrong side up • Lay the batting onto the backing pieces • Lay the white/cream fabric on top of the batting with the right side up • Use a hot dry iron and with a slow steady movement press till the batting sticks to the top fabric. Turn the block over and repeat till the backing sticks to the batting. Note: If the fabric appears to be a bit wrinkled, please don’t be concerned as this will not quilt into the blocks, it is just what happens when pressing. • Please keep these blocks flat to bring to the class. See you at the class, Pauline
Block Preparation If you're unable to complete the block preparations beforehand, just let us know—we’re happy to prepare kits for you to use on the day (additional cost applies).
